Seiwa Taiko 「西和太鼓」

Hoy hemos tenido la suerte de asistir al taller con Kodo. Yosuke Oda, ayudado por Shogo Yoshii y Eri Uchida nos han transmitido su pasión por este arte y nos han ayudado a sentir que el taiko, y el Arte por extensión, es un lenguaje universal que une. Justo el mensaje que Kodo lleva por el mundo con su One Earth Tour. Es una maravilla aprender de esta comunidad de valores tan arraigados, ¡y con tan buen humor!

A la representación en El Escorial, Madrid, de raíces japonesas puras y presentación sobria y auténtica, le dedicaré otro post.

Today we were fortunate to attend the workshop with Kodo. Yosuke Oda, helped by Shogo Yoshii and Eri Uchida transmitted to us their passion for this art and they helped us to feel that taiko, and hence Art, is a universal language that unites. The same message that Kodo spreads around the world through its One Earth Tour. It’s a real satisfaction to learn from a community with so deeply-routed values, and with such a sense of humour!

The show in El Escorial, Madrid, purely Japan-rooted and presented in a plain and genuine way, deserves another post.

Cuándo: lunes 6 de julio, de 11 a 12.30h.
Dónde: auditorio de El Escorial, Madrid.
Precio: consultadnos, asequible.
Máximo 10 personas. Dado el reducido número de plazas, se respetará el orden de inscripción.
Desplazamiento hasta allí no incluido. Podemos ponernos de acuerdo para ir en coche.

Este tema es el principal mi grupo de taiko en Japón. La actuación fue dentro de la jornada de actividades japonesas descrita en este post.
Fue un pequeño homenaje a ellos y una forma de mostrar lo que es el “kumidaiko” o grupo de taiko.

Ago Kaijin Daiko 「アゴ海神太鼓」 es un grupo de aficionados de la bahía de Ago, en la prefectura de Mie (Mie-ken), donde yo vivía en Japón. “Kaijin” hace referencia a los espíritus o dioses del mar, ya que aquello es zona de mar y se vive de la pesca sobre todo de langosta (“Ise ebi”, famosa en todo Japón) y del cultivo de perlas y ostras.
El grupo, enfocado como actividad de ocio y para reforzar el sentimiento de comunidad, tiene muchos años de historia y una bonita colección de taikos: dos okedo grandes, cuatro nagadou (medianos), seis tsukeshime (pequeños), un dora (gong), un bambú… Ensaya todas las semanas y actúa en eventos como fiestas de inauguración, de verano, congresos… allí donde hay algo que celebrar, les piden que toquen y ellos se presentan encantados.
Todos los años este grupo se abría a algunos españoles de los que vivíamos allí, un rasgo generoso ya que suele ser difícil que admitan a extranjeros. Yo tuve la suerte de que me acogieran en 2007 y 2008 y de actuar varias veces con ellos en mi segundo año. Fue muy emocionante y siempre les estaré agradecida por haberme dado la oportunidad de adentrarme en el mundo del taiko.

This is the main song of my taiko group in Japan. This performance was part of the Japanese Arts show described in this other post.
It was a little tribute to them and a way of showing what is «kumidaiko» or taiko group.

Ago Kaijin Daiko, アゴ海神太鼓 is an amateur group from Ago Bay in the prefecture of Mie「三重県」where I lived in Japan. «Kaijin» refers to the spirits or gods of the sea, since that area is devoted to the sea and many people get their livings out of fishing, mostly lobster («Ise ebi», highly appreciated throughout Japan) and also pearl and oyster culturing.
This community-based group has been running for a lot years and it owns a beautiful collection of taiko: two big okedo, four medium nagadou, six tsukeshime, one dora (gong), one take (bamboo)… They rehearse every week and perform such as in meetings openings, summer parties and celebrations in general. They are asked to play and they happily accept.

Every year this group used to admit some of the Spanish people that were living there, a very generous gesture, since it is not so common that non-Japanese people are admitted. I was fortunate to be with them in 2007 and 2008 and to perform with them several times in my second year. It was moving and I will always be grateful to them for giving me the opportunity of getting in touch with, and then go in more depth into, the taiko world.
